Course objectives – At the end of this course the student will be able to demonstrate adequate proficiency and an understanding of the information presented for their given subject area based on Lesson Quizzes, Post-Assessments/Exams other assessments.
Course overview – GradPoint is designed to allow students in need of receiving course credit an opportunity to take the course through the GradPoint program at their own pace.
Materials – ***MANDATORY*** Students should bring a pen or pencil and Spiral Notebook to take notes. Some courses will require the use of a calculator.
List of works/Pacing guide – The GradPoint program will determine the lessons and modules for each course. The course is student directed; therefore the pace is set by the student. Be aware, there will be no extra time given at the end of the semester to complete unfinished work. The Deadline to complete all Modules/Lessons/Projects and Assignments is the last day of the Quarter/Semester.
Assignments/Homework – Students will be given lessons, quizzes, and tests via the GradPoint program. Mr. Brush will monitor and track student progress. Students must complete all course work in order to receive credit. Any incomplete modules or lessons will be given a grade of 0. Students will have the opportunity to retake any lessons or modules for which they received a low grade.
ALL Lessons/Quizzes will be open to be completed at any time…however all Post-Tests are Password Protected and must be completed at school in Room 230 with Mr. Brush.
Grading Scale – FINAL GRADES in GradPoint Credit Recovery will be Pass or Fail or a Letter Grade depending on student/counselor recommendations. All scores in Lesson Plans (Quizzes) and Post-Tests must meet minimum standard of 60% passing, or the student will have to go back and review the lesson material and repeat the Lesson Quiz or Post-Test. Mr. Brush will keep students aware of their grades and progress throughout the semester.
PreTests do not count for or against a student’s grade. Students who score well may be allowed to skip some lessons and/or modules.
Notebook/Notes– A notebook is required in this course for notes, questions and documentation of work completed for all classes. Notes must include main ideas, key words/definitions, examples and sample problems, formulas, charts/graphs, questions and answers etc…
Notes must be organized and labeled with Course/Unit Topic/Lesson Title/Date
I will provide you an outline for your notes and you must complete them.
Projects and Supplemental Assignments – Each student will be required to complete projects and Supplemental Assignments in GradPoint or the completion of SAS Curriculum Pathways, Study Island, or other assignments. These will be done in class and completed before the end of the semester. Mandatory 1 per quarter or a Project for Every Post-Test Failed.
Safety Rules – Students are expected to behave in a manner that will ensure the safety of themselves and those around them. Please see the student handbook for more details. Students who behave in a manner that endangers the safety of others will receive consequences from the teacher and administration for their behavior.
Attendance – Students are expected to be in class on time everyday. Students who miss more than 10 class days will be subject to the schools attendance policy and may receive an FF for the course.
Tardy/Late – Students are expected to be in their seats and ready to work when the bell rings. Any student who is not in their seat and ready to work at that time will be considered tardy and will be subject to disciplinary action. Please use the “Sign In/Sign Out” sheet every time you enter late, leave early, or need to use the restroom…

Note 2: Tardies are reset only after the end of the first semester.
Restroom/Bathroom Policy – Each student will be allowed 2 (TWO) Emergency Restroom/Bathroom passes per term. Be absolutely sure it is an emergency.
10-10 policy: You may not go to the bathroom 10 minutes at the beginning of class or 10 minutes before the end of the class. Give yourself the time to work for at least 70-75 minutes during class, and I guarantee, you will be a lot closer to finishing your course, that you have taken more than once already.
Classroom Behavior --- You must sit in your assigned seat. Changes will be made accordingly.
1. All students are expected to behave in a manner which is respectful to all those around them.
2. No food or drink will be permitted in class.
3.No electronic devices will be permitted in class. This includes all cell phones and music devices. No music from music sites either.
4. No hats or headgear will be permitted in class. You must adhere to the Dress Code Policy.
5. All work must be the student’s original product. Any student found cheating or plagiarizing will receive an automatic 0 for the assignment and could face administrative action.
6. Students are not to leave the classroom for any reason during class time. If you leave the classroom, you must have hall/bathroom pass!!!
7. Students are not to use the Internet for ANY reason without permission. Any student found using the internet will be subject to disciplinary action.
8. Please do not put your head down. You always have something to do. If you do not feel well, I will send you to the office to go home.

o All assignments will be graded as Pass = 100% or Resubmission/Needs Improvement. Rubrics and Graded Assessments will also be distributed as needed.
o Students with EOC courses will also use Study Island which is an EOC Test Prep Program and must be completed with at least a 70% for all lessons.
o USA Test Prep is also an EOC Test review program. If needed students will log in as necessary.
Students must complete all requirements for credit.

- 20% Classwork (Lesson Quiz Scores) ALL LESSONS MUST BE COMPLETED/PASSED.
- 50% Post-Tests… Post-Test (For every Post-Test not passed with a 60% or higher, an alternative assessment/project must be submitted and graded. You have 2 chances.
- 20% Notes… If no notes, then you have to take the Review Tests as your grade for “notes”.
- 10% Projects… Projects All students must complete at least one project per quarter or 2 projects total – no matter what.

- If an EOC Course: Same Grading Scale but Exam = 25% (Banked Score)
